And it's not that she's yet to qualify for a professional men's golf tournament--which the indulgent men continue to let her try for from the women's tees.
It's not that she undeservedly draws media attention from the truly competitive men.
It's that she's never even won a women's professional golf tournament.
Babe Didrikson Zaharias actually competed in a men's tournament. But, she was declared by Bobby Jones to be one of the 10 best golfers of all time, male or female. She won every major tournament there was at least once, some of them over and again.
The exception proves the rule, of course. Michelle Wie is all girl, while the Babe . .
