Occupy Wall Street is leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors , genders and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%. We are using the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic to achieve our ends and encourage the use of nonviolence to maximize the safety of all participants."We are the 99%" is a political slogan and an implicit economic claim of "Occupy" protesters. It refers to the increased concentration of wealth since the 1970s among the top 1% of income earners in the United States. Powerful corporations who control politicians and monetary policy for their own profit are one of the targets of these protesters.
The New York City General Assembly (NYCGA), held every evening at seven, is OWS' main decision-making body. At its meetings the various OWS committees discuss their thoughts and needs, and the meetings are open to the public for both attendance and speaking. The meetings are without formal leadership, although certain members routinely act as moderators.
November 17th is being called, "Day of Action" and in New York people are being requested to Occupy the Subways and Take the Square. Protesters are gathering across the nation to peacefully protest the actions of the few who control Wall Street.
November 17 is the Call to Action and has brought a huge response from New York cities police. Once again police are being used to block protests which brings back memories of the 60's where police actually opened fire on un-armed protesters.
Over 80 protesters have been arrested in Oakland who have faced a severe response for local police. Fires, flag waving, and tear gas are the sounds of protest in Oakland. November 17 will go down in history when protesters successfully delayed the Opening Bell of Wall Street.
Twitter is being used to notify everyone of police violence and actions. Protesters are scared of police violence and brutality. The Other 99 is a live channel broadcast which is giving America a live view of protests and police presence.
This movement will most likely grow and eventually change the way that people view the actions of their elected officials interact with large corporations and deny of the rights of common working class citizens. The Fed and Wall street are two of the symbols that people recognize as bastions of corporate greed.
