Don't Buy This - Family Virtues Book Critique

By Addison Rivera

It expresses the views of the majority of Americans who voted this past November 2nd. After reading the book, I was quite amazed at how many people gave this book bad reviews and continue to attack Sarah's character and intelligence, while ignoring the real issues that our great country is facing today.

I highly doubt she has done the reading that she claims she has. I could tolerate maybe 10 minutes of reading this book and then I had to put it down.

While I'm not at all sure she would be the best leader for our country, she definitely understands what made AND makes America great. I would also like to say, it is totally obvious that of the 50 one star reviews that maybe ten of those reviewers actually read the book. I found the book to be thought provoking and heartfelt look at America. She's spent a lot of time getting to know average Americans and admires the everyday strength of people quietly going about their lives. Nonetheless, according to Palin, the debate is about "the truths of our American founding," and "our Constitution's foundational principles." One of those "foundational principles," Palin begins, is "freedom of religion," as contrasted to "freedom from religion." I did not however believe that she was aware enough on the issues to be a potent candidate for higher elective office.

I find it a sad commentary that the books written about her paint her in a better light than she paints for herself in the books she has written about herself. I found this book to contain little new.

No way are these books signed personally by Palin. I ordered two and the signatures are identical-stroke for stroke. Basically it can be summed up as follows. America and Americans are exceptional.

The last half of the book is more interesting. The pictures are nicely presented. Sarah Palin quotes the oath that is administered to federal judges in her book and concludes that progressives want Supreme Court justices to violate their oath of office. The Chapter entitled 'Rise of Mama Grizzles' outlines the differences between Sarah Palin's Mama Grizzles and the contemporary women's movement.

I'm proud of her for rejecting the endorsement of NAMBLA, even after Dick Cheney insisted that they were the spokesmen for "the REAL American family" and her proud insistence that Reagan's divorce "never mattered to Jesus" is brave. The "lame stream media" is likely to make fun of Sarah for this book, pointing out that she has the brains of an agitated parrot. My dad was a POW in WW11, and helicopter son-in-law, so proud of him. God bless America and restore her to her greatness, as she shares. I expect that of my sixth graders. I also expect being highly above board of someone who calls themselves a Christian. I bought this book on CD to listen to while traveling. I thought it was very good and very well written.
