This time the NY Times has gone too far -- Condi for VP? -- Al Sharpton has his secrets -- More problems for Holder -- Poll of the Day: Romney up in VA --Tweet of Yesterday | 1.) This time the NY Times has gone too far -- In the latest sign the NY Times has lost its mind, the Grey Lady published a piece Sunday heaping praise on Chris Hayes' MSNBC show, "Up Chris Hayes." Whoops. Apparently, it's actually "Up w/ Chris Hayes," though the former seems more accurate. The profile of the show, however, left out some crucial facts, reports TheDC's Jeff Poor:
"One of the points the article highlighted was Hayes’ ratings, which Williams described as a bright point in MSNBC’s declining overall ratings ... That appears to be a bit of cherry-picking from Williams, since overall Hayes is lacking the viewership numbers that might warrant a declaration that he has 'arrived.' ... On Sundays, 'Up w/Chris Hayes' ranks fourth in the time slot in total viewers — behind the Fox News Channel, CNN and HLN. On Saturdays and Sundays, he ranks third in the time slot in the 25-54 demo – the demo that actually counts in cable news."
TheDC Morning cannot confirm reports that the CIA has petitioned the Obama administration to use Hayes' show as an alternative to waterboarding.

Condi for VP? -- According to at least one poll, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is the most desired candidate among Republicans to be Mitt Romney's running mate. But she's not interested, the AP reports:
"Rice tells 'CBS This Morning' she’s not interested in joining Romney, who has more than enough delegates to win the presidential nod at the party convention in Tampa. Rice says, quote, 'I didn’t run for student council president. I don’t see myself in any way in elective office.' Rice also says 'there is no way that I will do this because it’s really not me. I know my strengths and weaknesses.'"
Political translation: "I'll take it if offered." But she won't be offered it since she's pro-choice, or in her words, "mildly pro-choice." | 3.) Al Sharpton has his secrets -- Al Sharpton, the MSNBC host who also happens to be America's premier political agitator, is planning a series of events to protest Thursday's likely contempt vote in the House against Attorney General Eric Holder. But Sharpton won't say exactly what the plans consist of, reports TheDC's Michelle Fields:
"Rev. Al Sharpton met with African-American and Latino civil rights leaders in Washington, D.C. Tuesday, warning that he has 'activities' planned for this week in anticipation of House Republicans’ vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. Sharpton kept mum about the details of those 'activities' but predicted that a contempt finding could 'energize a lot of people around the country to stop this naked type of, uh, political exploitation." | 4.) More problems for Holder -- Attorney General Eric Holder no longer just has problems to his right, reports TheDC's Matthew Boyle:
"Utah Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson said Tuesday he plans to vote in favor of holding Holder in contempt over his refusal to comply with a subpoena into the Operation Fast and Furious scandal. 'It just compounds the tragedy when both sides play politics instead of releasing the facts. The Terry family, the public and Congress deserve answers,' Matheson said in remarks first reported by the Salt Lake Tribune in his home state. 'Sadly, it seems that it will take holding the attorney general in contempt to communicate that evasiveness is unacceptable.'" | | 5.)
