Let us have our snarky TSA comments -- The kid's all right -- Chickens are moving on up -- Mudcat gets in the mud -- Poll of the Day: Romney up in Florida --Tweet of Yesterday | 1.) Let us have our snarky TSA comments -- If we are subjected to (arguably) intrusive scanners when we travel, can't we at least complain about them? TheDC's Alex Pappas reports:
"It’s been one year since a federal court ordered the Transportation Security Administration to open up its new body scanner system to a process that includes taking comments from the public and justifying the policy ... Ginger McCall, a director at EPIC, confirmed to The Daily Caller on Monday that the group is planning to file the motion Tuesday about the failure of TSA to comply with the court’s notice-and-comment rulemaking order. 'A year has passed,' McCall told TheDC. 'The agency has not demonstrated any steps to indicate that they have taken that notice-and-comment rule making. We are filing a motion with a court to ask the court to enforce their own order.'"
Is it too much to ask to allow people to provide snarky comments? For instance: "Dear TSA, thanks SO MUCH for the free radiation treatment. The process is still new to me, but I'm thinking it edges out the free massages your guys previously provided --- you know, when some random, sweaty person I never met would touch my genitals on my way through security. Keep up the GREAT WORK! All the best, Thomas Mc-Go to Hell." TheDC Morning has this sneaking suspicion, however, that these are not the type of comments EPIC is referring to. | 2.) The kid's all right -- That's the message Mitt Romney's pollster is putting out, if a 65-year old man can be considered a kid. If not, his message is the old man's all right. TheDC's Neil Munro reports:
"President Barack Obama has spent $51.4 million on early attack ads, yet the polls show his advantage narrowing, according to a July 16 press statement by Mitt Romney’s campaign pollster. 'If throwing the kitchen sink at Gov. Romney while leveraging a two-to-one ad-spending advantage doesn’t move numbers for the President, that’s got to tell you … [voters] don’t truly believe the next four years will be any different from the last three and a half,' said the Monday statement from Neil Newhouse."
Compelling. It would be even more so if it came from someone who didn't have "Mitt Romney's pollster" on his business cards. | 3.) Chickens are moving on up -- ... to a DELUXE cage in California. TheDC's David Martosko reports:
"Thanks to a 2008 ballot measure bankrolled by the powerful Humane Society of the United States, California's egg-laying hens will get expensive new accommodations by 2015, and there's little anyone can do about it. But Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King aims to contain the financial damage to as few farmers as possible. Last week King managed to add an amendment to the 2012 farm bill that would undercut the animal rights movement's larger aim, spelled out in a companion law that then-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed in 2010. That law, the first of its kind, prevents other states' farmers from selling eggs in California that don't meet the costly new standard." | 4.) Mudcat gets in the mud -- Which race will be the dirtiest of this election season? How about Virginia's 7th District? TheDC's Jamie Weinstein (ME!) reports:
"You know, he’s an unpatriotic guy,' Democratic political strategist Dave 'Mudcat' Saunders said of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in an interview in The Daily Caller's offices. 'We’re going to attack his patriotism.' The 'we' Saunders is referring to is he and his 'horse' to take on Cantor for his Virginia congressional seat, lawyer and retired Colonel Wayne Powell. Asked to defend his dramatic charge against Cantor, Saunders --- who served as a campaign strategist for Southern Democrats like Jim Webb, Mark Warner and John Edwards --- threw out all sorts of allegations."
This is going to get dirty. Scratch that. This has already gotten dirty. | | 5.)
