We're ramping up

Dear Michael, Free enterprise works. It allows hard-working individuals to thrive. But today's American economy is anything but free, thanks in no small part to the liberal Washington Establishment. Big government policies stifle growth and innovation, while special interest groups lobby to ensure government regulations and handouts benefit them and not their competitors. Make no mistake: these special interests ally with liberals and bureaucrats to advance big government -- whether it's retailers urging so-called "consumer-friendly" debit card reforms that make banking more expensive or energy companies pushing regulations that force consumers to buy their products. No matter who wins in November, The Washington Establishment will continue to fight to use hard earned taxpayer dollars for their own gain. They must be stopped. That's why The Heritage Foundation is ramping up our efforts to fight The Washington Establishment to pave the way for real conservative reforms. To fund this effort, we have set a one-day goal of $200,000 on Tuesday, October 16. Heritage has been a force for principle for nearly 40 years, and now is the time to increase our efforts and defeat those who want big government, big spending and big regulations. This Washington Establishment is strong, well funded and increasingly entrenched on Capitol Hill. We have to fight back if conservatives are to succeed.
