Resist the Increasing Role of the United Nations in Internet Governance

Some countries have proposed granting the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a United Nations specialized agency, more authority over the Internet and making other changes purportedly for such goals as enhancing cybersecurity, reducing costs for developing country consumers, and increasing investment by telecommunication providers. However, many of these seemingly benign proposals could undermine the Internet freedoms that are essential to spurring economic development and protecting human rights.

Stop the Mendez-Boxer Sideshow: End Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Now 

For over four years, Congress has failed to start the process of phasing out Fannie and Freddie and replacing them with a private-sector mortgage finance system. Undeterred by the underperformance of past programs, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is expected to schedule Senate consideration in the lame-duck session of another refinancing bill by Senators Mendez (D-NJ) and Boxer (D-CA). Their approach would be a policy mistake. Congress should skip the sideshow and move instead to the main event of ending Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Taking Down Twinkies 

Twinkies are selling for hundreds of dollars on eBay. Union membership has been dropping steadily over the past decade.
