Marley's Ghost

Christmas has come and gone but there are still lessons to be learned from the old Dickens story "A Christmas Carol" in which Ebenezer Scrooge's former and deceased business partner, Jacob Marley, came back to visit him as a ghost, on Christmas Eve. Marley's ghost is followed by three other ghosts, 1) The ghost of Christmas past 2) The ghost of Christmas present & 3) The ghost of Christmas yet to come.

The whole point of Dickens' narrative is that if you live your life as a miser, cheat, and unloving person your afterlife is going to be one of certain punishment of which you cannot escape. Although Dickens does not deal with salvation by the blood of Jesus Christ (It was a secular book) the people of the time knew what had happened to Scrooge when he had a "Change of heart".

It is important to know that we cannot change our hearts by our own efforts . . .

If you are not sure that you will go to heaven when you die I have "good news" for you. You can be. When you make the following confession you will sense a freedom from worry and fear of the future that you have never known before.  Romans 10:9: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Saved here in Greek is the word Sozo which also means heal, preserve, do well, and make whole) If you have any questions please email me at: Halmitch@cox.net.
