Good News Digest Prophetic Insights to Daily Living Edition 105 - April 24, 2013 Have you wondered, as you read the Bible, what the word "Selah" means? It appears mostly in the Psalms. When I clicked on Selah in my Bible Browser I came up with 71 verses in the Psalms with Selah after them and 5 in other scriptures. Mos t Bible scholars say it means a pause or interlude because the Psalms are poetic and often set to music and sung. A pause, in music is called a "rest" which is a wavy looking vertical symbol. (See cartoon at right) There is a Hebrew word called Selah which means: think about it or meditate on this thought. I believe this is the best definition of the word. Biblical meditation in no way, however, resembles transcendental meditation as practiced by adherents of eastern religions by gazing at their navels and chanting a mantra.
