New Budget, Same Schemes

The President’s 2014 budget arrived last week... 2 months late. His budget does not balance and never will, relies on punitive tax hikes, and yet again features more new spending. From taxes to entitlements, from defense to economic policy, Heritage experts analyze it line-by-line.

$1.1 Trillion Tax Increase in Obama Budget
There was little doubt President Obama would propose another huge tax hike. It is surprising, however, that the total tax increase he proposes is almost double what he claims it to be. What new and higher taxes are in the Obama Budget?

What's Really in the President's Budget?

President Obama claims $1.8 trillion in additional deficit reduction, including a $600 billion tax increase. But what his budget actually does is cancel sequestration’s spending cuts—therefore raising spending—by the same amount that he reduces spending. When that’s done, all that’s left is a $1.1 trillion tax hike.
