Barack Obama was right

The Heritage Foundation

Dear Michael,

Barack Obama was right.

In 2006, he said: "The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure."

This still holds true -- our country's leaders are failing us.

The United States of America has to borrow money just to continue to pay its bills. As citizens, we shouldn't just be angry -- we should be embarrassed. And we should take action.

We are facing a very serious debt crisis because our nation's leadership has a spending problem. But neither Congress nor the Obama administration seem to think the debt crisis is urgent enough to cut any spending at all.

That's why The Heritage Foundation is leading the charge to put our nation on the path toward fiscal responsibility.

Heritage has a plan. And with your help on November 1 we will redouble our efforts to slash spending and get our country's finances in order.

We need to get our detailed blueprint for spending reform in lawmakers' hands immediately.

Like you, I am disappointed that our leaders continue to spend without limit and pile on the debt. So Michael, I am asking you to stand up to the big-spending Establishment and stand with Heritage on November 1.

We are leading this charge, and we are counting on you to join us November 1.

Thank you for taking a stand for conservative principles.

Sincerely,

Jim DeMint
President
