Will Taxpayers Bailout Detroit?

Last week, the city of Detroit declared bankruptcy. Washington should ignore calls for a federal bailout. All bailouts do is punish state and local governments that are good stewards—and enable those that are not to continue poor management.

Our debt situation has worsened since before the recession. Putting the federal budget on a path to balance is even more urgent now.

Despite Sequestration,
Spending and Debt Will Continue to Grow

Much larger spending cuts are needed to rein in federal spending. Sequestration trims only 12 percent off the total deficit over 10 years.
