SECURITY IN VOICE AND DATA SERVICES

The year is 2013, nearly 2014, and there’s no political party, no political institution that is not immersed in the world of digital voice and data services. The reasons vary from one to another, but mostly because of the communication speeds that can be achieved with this new model of communication.

But there’s one issue that has kept all this organizations preoccupied, and that is the issue of security. It is no secret that most networks can be hacked and information can be stolen in nick of time, sometimes even taking days for those affected to even notice the intrusion.

So what is to do in this situation? For a start getting a company that can tell what the appropriate network gear to implement in order to secure the network is critical. Then determine an implementation time and all that’s needed and required for the network installation.

The voice and data cabling also requires a checkup in order to find and faulty cables that could cause trouble later. Once that the new network equipment is in place a test will be required to make sure that it is not only operational but also protecting from most intrusions.

You might be asking why we used the word “most”. The fact of the matter is, there are intrusions that sadly originate from the inside, and therefore, equipment that is designed to prevent intrusions from the outside world, cannot prevent intrusions that originate inside the networks like from viruses or spambots allocated in USB memories.

That’s why political institutions need to implement countermeasures like polices that prohibit the use of unauthorized mobile data devices that could cause this problems or the use of alternate connection methods (like tethering from cellphones or 3G modems) that could also circumvent the protection of the networking gear.

Don’t forget to leave a comment, we would like to hear from you. Until next time!
